The solo repeatedly pokes its head into the middle “orchestral” section, with what Levin dubs the “sweet theme” in m. 141 and in m. 148 with the “sly theme” (with the pan-concerto motive of three repetitions of the fifth scale degree – here an F, since we are in the dominant B-flat).

As such, sonatas and concertos differ from each other mainly in their forms. Mozart's last three quartets, dedicated to the King of Prussia Friedrich Wilhelm II, are noted for the cantabile character of the parts for cello (the instrument played by the king himself), the sweetness of sounds and the equilibrium among the different instruments.

By the age of five, Mozart had started composing music for himself. His playing is absolutely brilliant in musicianship, tone, and in capturing the different moods of the piece. The violin concerto continued to flourish into the twentieth century, with the Americans Erich Wolfgang Korngold and Samuel Barber providing two of its greatest post-Romantic incarnations, though returning its length to that of the Classical Period. In the final movement, it makes a second appearance, this time a bit altered to fit its new surroundings, but still recognizable.
